Decentralization is like insurance. You pay it forever, and you only appreciate it when shit hits the fan.

we appear to be a smaller and smaller group of loud-mouthed decentralization advocates. Not even decentralization for decentralization's sake, but for specific practical values. The algo removed my own reply in a channel I "own", without any apparent way to restore it. In this one point in time, when Content Filter met "your channel, your rules", the filter won. The behavior has since been changed, quietly and without acknowledgement AFAICT. Has anybody else had similar experiences? Separately, I'm sure you guys have seen the same thing I have seen -- benign changes to historical casts on Hubs (i.e., url rewrites). If anyone wants to compare notes, my DMs are open.

the current hub implementation doesn’t guarantee strong consistency i believe snapchain will vastly improve consistency and durability

Consistency between hubs is one thing (though they should be eventually consistent). Changes in content can only happen by someone who holds a signer you have approved (i.e. an app).

a few days ago, pinata's public hub (which is maybe a neynar hub?) shows fid 528 missing the MESSAGE_TYPE_USER_DATA_ADD message of type USER_DATA_TYPE_USERNAME with timestamp 69403317, while other hubs have this message from a long time ago. in practice, Hubs do not deliver complete consistency. And more Hubs exacerbates the problem! I have more examples from over a year ago, pre-permissionless. Snapchain will appear consistent when it launches, because it will be a bootstrapped reset. My very cursory read of the design is that its sync will prioritize recent messages, and not directly address the same dropped-old-messages symptoms

pinata uses our APIs, not our hubs. You can see state of any FID or cast on Neynar hubs here: https://explorer.neynar.com/528
