Stated preference is very much about preference falsification! Most people like saying things that they think other people want to hear (or increases their status with said people). Virtue signaling, etc.

Agree. However, the world shouldn’t always be built towards getting people to their revealed preferences I imagine

E.g. some suffer from addictions / substance abuse but state that they’d rather not be addicted
