If we had an opt-in "read receipt" mode, a la Instagram Stories or group chats, for casts, would you turn it on?

would use for group chats -- not sure an option is needed there tbh

for individual 1:1 chats: 
- iMessage does it in a way that each user opts in independently of others 
- WhatsApp makes it reciprocal where if you turn off yours, you can't see read status from others

I prefer the WhatsApp approach for 1:1s

I do use them for group chats from time to time
