it's true fb has been pretty bad for facts for a long time. i guess the difference is they could have just said nothing and everything would be functionally the same – but they explicitly went out of their way to make this point and even outlining horrible things to say about vulnerable segments of the population as if they want to actually encourage more of it. maybe to boost usage on their dying platform ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

good read "Culture only moves forward if its practitioners don’t give a fuck. Until then, it will remain stuck." i think the thing with "avant-garde" or whatever u want to call it is that most of the time u don't know what it is until it's no longer "avant." ie. the changes it has brought has already occurred and so it is no longer the forefront (๑>ᴗ<๑)

pretty good read and interesting to see the state of things now 13 years later since its writing, much worse than before (╥_╥) "No, they mean to convince us that technological progress is indeed continuing, that we do live in a world of wonders, but that those wonders take the form of modest improvements (the latest iPhone!), rumors of inventions about to happen (“I hear they are going to have flying cars pretty soon”), complex ways of juggling information and imagery, and still more complex platforms for filling out of forms."

i think most ppl probably just choose sea level rather than extreme depths or elevations (⌒_⌒;) there u don't need much special equipment to breathe and survive like u do at the bottom of the sea or the peak of a mountain but yeah, the aspect about the companies – i'd rather not enter back into the weird relationship of producing my work for the furtherance of things i don't align with. that's what it was feeling like. that's the web 2.0 exploitation model i was trying to escape
