this week, on my homepage, i got into indieweb building blocks and integrated some of them, adding indieauth so i can log into services using just my website+pgp key, using microformats for id, joining the indieweb webring. pretty fun stuff ^-^ i really love the ethos behind it and i wish it were more widely adopted i also continued to refine things on dial-up mode like adding permalinks to the blog. i think it's pretty much at a point now where i can actually start using the page as more than just for writing about the page developments itself i've managed to get the whole site down to ~150kb (started around 700kb) but i want to try to get closer to or under 100. there's no real reason for this other than it's a fun challenge and there's still a lot of messy stuff i should clean up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://ellesho.me/page/website/now/#webrings-permalinks - u can read more on the blog

Looking more into it I have a ton of spiritual alignment with IndieWeb! Definitely something I’ll read up on when I start chipping away at my homepage, which at its most ambitious is a “mutually personal website.” IndieAuth + Farcaster ID seem like two great social graphs to tap into

what do u mean by "mutually personal"? (⌒_⌒;) while i was setting up for the indiewebring, i was thinking it would be fun to have a farcaster webring for everyone here with personal sites. tho not sure how that would work since i don't think urls are baked into our fids. maybe it would have to be a ens webring and set a custom text record idk

My vision is a fully articulated version of my interests and ideas in the form of a website. Anything I would link myself directly to explain something (i.e. Terraforms) to something I think someone can discover on their own if they traverse deep enough on my website. Instead of compartmentalizing my identity into different presentations, I present a labyrinth of pages that one can slowly navigate from different entry points. It is cumbersome for people to start from zero every time so based on the entry point (specialized redirecting domain names, Farcaster social graph, Ethereum token balances, etc) one can start with focused pages and artifacts and explore at their own pace. Then the depth of my interests slowly reveals itself. A portfolio + blog + wiki + gallery all rolled into one. Mutually personalized scope based on navigation + predetermined entry point. That’s the dream, anyway 🤓

re: Farcaster webring This would be incredible to have. Sadly most people don’t even utilize ENS text records, yet we all like to talk about interoperability from time to time. My simplest idea would be to create a cast like “reply with your homepage / personal website to be added to the Farcaster webring” then query all casts with a like from whoever casts that (to verify the pages aren’t like a brand website or something). Then the webring script could ensure necessary webring code is installed on the sites then mark them as fully verified from time to time. Any time there’s a need for more members of the ring, one can just recast the original cast. Clunky and crude but it could be a quick start!
