What's messed up is that when it was alive, I didn't even know about it so never got to try. Many ppl still show respect till this day, so it must have been very useful.

i think they had tunnel vision with google+ and wanted a walled garden and rss is too open for them. the article sort of talks about that i think

It's just weird to me because why wouldn't Google want to capture and dominate another protocol like they did with SMTP. And they've been kind of right because not many ppl even know what RSS is these days.
