looks interesting – that said, most of the examples of its use seem to be along the lines of a productivity tool, answering emails, parsing shopping lists. which is great for reducing menial tasks like that but not sure why they are so fixated on the idea of the "browser" when i feel a browser is more expansive than that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

exactly. i played with cursor for a little bit for my coding but quickly realized that all it did was give me a headache bc while i could code faster, i wasn't actually learning or enjoying much and i was spending more time as a manager fixing its mistakes. i was just jumping from prompt to prompt in a weird fugue state. somehow the roles reversed and the machine became the creator and the human became the autocorrect (๑>ᴗ<๑)

and while i had the code in the end, it left me empty of the feeling of satisfaction in creating something. so i stopped using it for most things and only really use it now if i have time intensive menial tasks to offload (⌒_⌒;) i think the part u wrote about scaling up a person's ability is good. it's important that the tools augment rather than replace the experiences we are able to have.

this kind of reminds me of a convo i had the other day about ai that can perform as "you" – i wrote a little response about my experience with using cursor and why i got bored of it. but yeah, i also know from having taught web and art courses in the past that there are many ppl that don't enjoy and are actually frustrated by the processes that it takes to reach a destination and would prefer to automate it away ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's a totally fair take and I think you're right. They are definitely focused on the utility of what a browser could potentially be, but I also think the vast majority of people use a browser as an interface to do the kinds of things they are helping to automate. I use it for so so so much more like many of the people in this beautiful channel. I like the idea of having different browsers (not many) for different things. Still using Arc as my daily driver mostly because I love the way it manages tabs and hides the chrome.
