Is it normal for a simple swap on rainbow to incur a $8 gas fee! Rediculous. Perhaps I won't use mobile anymore.

Hi, gas prices should be set by the network. So all wallets will have to use the same prices to have a transaction included. Lemme know if there was an issue we can look at in Rainbow! I saw this crazy gas fee on Arbitrum the other day from OKX wallet, we’d love to know if something like that happened! https://x.com/smyyguy/status/1886243740353806653?s=46

Does the wallet automatically toggle the gas between normal and fast during congestion? I did a test and gas was cheaper on coinbase. Rainbow is a rip.

Yeah, the base price on Rainbow is and CB wallet are both floating values that will rise with congestion Mainnet is where the prices can get really bad, but even Arbitrum and Base were >$1 during the recent eth flash crash

But I'm saying yesterday I was quoted $8 gas for a $400 swap on base. Bit extreme for an l2. Cb swapped it for 20c

Did you make the swap? Sounds like a bug where it’s showing mainnet instead of L2 gas prices. If you made the swap we can check the price onchain. We haven’t seen that recently, but I did have a bug like that months ago It would usually resolve to the correct gas price on the review step And it would only cost the normal amount when sent. The bug wasn’t sending bad gas values, it was showing bad gas estimates as a placeholder when it didn’t get the proper data We’d love to track that if it is a bug!

In Rainbow? Cus then we could check the onchain gas price. With the transaction link It’s crazy low right now, even mainnet is cheap at about 1 gwei.
