It’s here. Readers asked me to expand my last book that debunked Bessel van der Kolk’s book The Body Keep The Score. I tripled the size and number of claims debunked by covering his false claims about treatment and related issues. Available as paperback or eBook on Amazon.

Why do anesthetics drugs get approved easily, even though treatment outcomes are hopelessly 'confounded' by surgery & functional unblinding is inevitable when testing them against placebo? Because drug developers & regulators acknowledge that these are *tools*, not treatments. https://x.com/Josh__Hardman/status/1851989465629163681

Another disturbing example of psychedelic exceptionalism is that since Twitter was turned into this hellhole here, while the relevant adjacent fields begin to thrive on Bluesky, the psychedelic research community has largely moved to LinkedIn, of all places...

The scalpel is an essential surgical tool. Without it, surgery as we know it would be impossible. Its application is even the "main active principle" of many surgical treatments. Yet it would be ridiculous to refer to these treatments as "scalpel with surgical support".

Have you ever had a psychedelic experience without (immediate) prior use of psychedelics? Regardless of whether you would describe that experience as a "flashback" or something else, please take part in this brief online survey: https://psychedelicflashbacksurvey.info https://x.com/EvensRicarda/status/1840782519303582150

Spent two nights in Basel, where Albert Hofmann discovered LSD, to discuss with the honorable Swiss Physicians Society for Psycholytic Therapy (SÄPT) another pivotal discovery made in this peculiarly progressive country: Klaus Grawe's 'general change mechanisms' of psychotherapy.

The irony with that "objection" is of course that—yes—knowing you are getting real therapy (and having positive beliefs about it) is indeed an important mechanism of psychotherapy. This applies especially to reducing demoralization, which is crucial when it comes to suicidality.

Psychotherapy reduces suicidality, according to this important new meta-analysis. Have these results already been dismissed because psychotherapy studies cannot be blinded? Like, what if people only didn't kill themselves because they *knew* they were getting real therapy?https://x.com/JAMAPsych/status/1838971752401031261

Important considerations - from an American perspective. In contrast, more functional health care systems that already aim to provide psychotherapy to those who need it (60+ sessions is pretty standard in German public insurance) will more easily adopt psychedelic augmentation. https://x.com/diterpene/status/1838648966734303467

New paper shows relaxation during psychedelic experience predicts reduced depression. This points to "learning to let go" as a therapeutic mechanism (but acceptance was not measured). Also, the potential value of preparatory relaxation exercises—yoga? PMR? https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10.1177/02698811241278873
