In one study, 12 trained students performed high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which consisted of 4 sets of 4-minute sprints, separated by 3 minutes of active rest. After 10 weeks of HIIT three times a week, participants showed an almost 11 percent increase in muscle fiber size in their quadriceps compared to the control group. Similarly, sprinting may be beneficial for building muscle.
