when i was little my parents’ friend were brainstorming an idea to pitch a movie. i said he should do a movie on Tiananmen Square and he said it would be “financial, social, and actual suicide”. nobody would come near it with a ten-foot pole. i didn’t understand it.

i wish i still didn’t understand it.
