not rhetorical— what does “suppress” mean in this context?

in this context, "suppress" lies on spectrum between nerf, ban, shadowban, generic follow, super follow, highlight, tip 4 tip, boost, paid boost (disclosed/not disclosed) observation: there is less negativity on the Warpcast Home Feed than can be found on other Farcaster clients, or on most parts of the internet with similar heterogeneous gatherings of loosely organized people. hypothesis: the algo actively shapes what gets shown in Warpcast and the culture responds to and reinforces a suppression of valid criticism we are already so low on hot takes, spicy takes, bad takes. When one does appear, the line from above (and below and around) is "don't feed the trolls", "this is FUD", "I am open to criticism but once your tone crosses my policy line, I will permanently mute you" to answer your original question (I don't know who is in the chat but suspect I know them), yes they did, multiple times, I had to look for it though because they don't control the space where we might have heard it 1/2

i appreciate your write up. i was curious because D+V said they don’t shadow ban. i’ve observed “censoring” from a more social, norms-setting level— that negative content doesn’t get the same reach because users are simply less interested, and thus assumed it’s more indicative of the types of users/communities on here. i do find the sentiments a bit homogenous at times and am excited to see how other clients might provide more balanced feeds https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0xa974c2e4

anybody who can’t speak the truth bc they fear retribution, doesn’t speak the truth. say it. own it. whatever the consequences.

i personally struggle with it— but if nobody engages with my negative content i just assume people aren’t interested in what i have to say. but to me that feels more like the community is not “my people” (on those issues at least) than it is a punishment. i’ve readily accepted that since the user base is small and the culture is homogenous, i shouldn’t run counter to the mainstream and expect to be popular— which is essentially what Dan is saying in his cast. i am eager to reassess this on a different client. i also agree that rewards skew the content. if the users prefer to interact with positivity, then those are the casts that would get more reach, thus rewards, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. but again what rewards fuel is fundamentally a user culture issue to me

speak your mind or speak less of your mind and be popular … for me the former aligns w my values and my behavior will reflect that. my casts dont trend. i don’t care.

yeah, for a moment I was lost in the mass hallucination that more of “my people” might be found here and once again, the glass case of delusion was shattered it’s resulted in what is perhaps a final wisdom for me on that subject: I do not have a “people” I am a tribeless being Destined to vibe alone And fine with it

this is a neat burst of user feedback for. you. not saying what is actionable or how to solve things. folks can go create a channel and be as critical of whatever as they want, but that doesn’t really solve the problem. you can create a group chat. one of the most positive vibe clutch of farcaster is in a discord server. and you can just speak your mind. one day your tribe will find you.
