It makes me insane seeing people promoting vc funded projects and apps for free on a regular basis like it’s their job. I understand the reasons behind why people do it, but the practice perpetuates a culture that continues to devalue creators ducking and covering now

is there a specific type of projects that this is in reference to? i feel like i'm the kind of person who would yell it on the mountain top to all my friends when i find a tech product i genuinely enjoy. would want to better understand if it's inadvertently oppressive

Not any one in particular. I think it’s one thing to gate keep and another to strike. If you’re helping your community by sharing information, that’s great. It’s more people pushing some products without any intention. Especially those that don’t budget for marketing. It seems to me they are counting on the unpaid labor of fans to do that work. Maybe the rule is if your friends are going to thank you, green light. If you think the founders are going to thank you, red flag
