My prayers were answered! A neighbour invited me to raid her apple trees, same as last year 😈 The apples were mostly fallen and bruised, but this summer I'll take what I can get. So I spent alllll day today turning apples into apple butter (added the aronia too to use it up, hence the colour). I guess that's around 10 kg apples + 2 kg aronia + 3 kg sugar ➡️ ~8 liters of apple butter 🍏 Going to save small jars for gifts, and the big ones will carry us through winter ☺️ I think I'll cast a recipe too, cause I feel like I've perfected the art of apple butter this year ✨

Google needed to help me here. Hadn’t heard of aronia before and needed to check if apple butter is appelstroop which Google said it was. I’d love a recipe so I can give it a try. My husband’s family is Dutch so would love to make it for him.

I've made a cast about aronia recently, but Warpcast doesn't allow quote casts with photos together 😅 It's a local berry which doesn't have as pronounced a flavour as currants, so usually people don't make jams with it, but I just hated seeing it go to waste. In my native language we have a whole different word for it, so I've deduced that 'apple butter' should be the closest term. Basically it's apple puree, but with more sugar and reduced, so when it's cooled it cuts kind of like jelly ☺️ https://warpcast.com/klusya/0xa0cc6e16
