Me on the Uber app: requests “quiet preferred”

Uber driver to me as soon as I get in the car: “I dated a few ladies in Florida. God, they were so boring! Ladies in Denver are much more exciting, they can go to hike, to lake, to this, to that. I think, I only moved here two months ago. Where are you from?”

Might be so cultural differences here so let me just ask… Did you ask or tell him you’re not up for chit chat in person? At that point he should have toned it down to the minimum. 

While I get that stating a preference in the app should help, I also feel like a preference is just that. You enter someones workplace and one of the only upsides of doing a job like that is they have some ownership of how they go about running that business, if the driver gets something out of being (overly) social that is understandable. I know that I‘m looking for a big social aspect for my next job.

A one star review like other commented seems overly harsh to me.

I like it when it makes me feel something.

I realize now I did mostly glance over the type of thing he said to you, which makes me understand your point and annoyance a lot more.
