any light phone enjoyers here? got my iii preorder in. wondering if there’s a u.s. cell provider that’s best suited for enabling a companion phone on a single primary number. 🤔 https://www.thelightphone.com/lightiii

it looks cool. Never heard of it. I misunderstood the purpose though, I figured it was a light companion for when you don’t want your full on smart phone on you, but this thing seems full featured still? You did mention it as a companion phone, but then I don’t understand why it has all these features.

said another way: for times that i don’t want to be online this will make it so i literally can’t get online, but will still have some basic nice to haves with me rolled up as a single device (basic communication, maps and music).

it’s definitely intended as a primary everyday carry. i’d like to get there but would need to refactor certain smartphone use cases that i still care about (e.g. oura ring, app based 2fa, home tech, etc). i think i’d use this as my main communication device and a way to leave full featured tech at home / on the shelf more often.
