I think I earned lots of Dad XP today. Birthday kids D&D was a success. Already scheduling the next session of Familiar Things.

This week I built

A kid’s D&D game filled with laughter and imagination.

Having never played how hard would it be to dm for 4 kids ages 9-4?

9-14 or 4-9? 🙂 

I started DMing my kids as early as 6 (for my son). I DMed an online kids game during the pandemic (that was CHAOTIC). And most recently, DMed for my daughter and 3 friends.

I would say this - my approach to DMing kids is different than adults. I lean a lot more into storytelling, and adapting to where their imagination goes (so I'm more likely to selectively bend rules some to fit the narrative they are creating). I would also keep the table size down. 4 kids is PERFECT. However, I would match age groups more closely. If the youngest is 9 and the oldest is 14, I would place those into 2 different groups. My son is 15. My daughter JUST turned 12 (and her friends are all 10-12). So, they are in 2 different groups.

I've got 4, 6, 7, 9. The 4 yo would likely play a sidekick roll for the 9 yo
