the halifax explosion (nova scotia) was one of the most devastating accidental non-nuclear explosions in history the ss mont-blanc, a cargo ship carrying explosives, collided with the ss imo in the harbor on 6 dec 1917 this is the mont-blanc's unassuming anchor shaft- it's over 1000 lbs & flew 2 miles in the blast

Fun fact - Boston receives a massive Christmas tree from Nova Scotia every year as appreciation for the aid that Boston sent after the explosion.
