no not really, so you have to purchase Caster Tokens of casters that you like first. then you can stake those Caster Tokens to earn a portion of that caster's daily ham allocation and tips.

locking caster tokens means you are casting your vote for that particular caster, saying that you believe the stakers of this caster should earn a portion of the additional 10M ham pool.

in short, you need to be staking caster tokens in order to be earning ham.

Is my understanding correct that when you 'stake,' you receive $HAM, and when you 'lock,' you receive fan tokens?
