I grew up with my parents being devout followers of a religion that is basically a 400 year old version of the simulation theory. The key metaphysical claim is this life is a dream, and on death you wake up in the real world. “Waking up” is a key concept. Personally, I think it’s all just an allegory for living a conscious life.
