People talk a lot about secularization of Christianity that then influences everything around us without us realizing.

But apocalypse isn’t one of them. These Christian end of world panics happened all the time, a big one every 100-200 years.

I think we still retain that mentality without the religious aspect of it

Something fascinating I learned recently is that the very concept of secularism comes from Christianity. 

I got into watching these lectures by the British historian Tom Holland and it gave me a whole new appreciation for Christian history.

It's a provocative idea. Secularism wasn't born from Christianity, but it did grow in reaction to it. The Church's power and sectarian conflicts pushed Enlightenment thinkers to separate faith from governance. Holland makes a strong case, though he leans too apologetic. Still, fascinating lens.
