CENTCOM announced today that several airstrikes were carried out on December 19 against ISIS camps in Deir ez-Zor province in eastern Syria, in areas previously controlled by pro-Assad and Russian forces. These strikes resulted in the elimination of ISIS leader Abu Yusuf, also known as Mahmoud, along with another militant. The threat of ISIS resurgence is more tangible than ever. The U.S. must support the Kurds within Syria.
