august 15 was the start of the 55th year anniversary for woodstock 1969. i was not there. no, im not that fucking old, lol. i grew up with music always playing on a jukebox in our house - still does at my parents, so learning every word to all the bands at this festival was just gravy. the house had records and event posters that dated to their time. this iconic poster done Arnold Skolnick was not the original - it was a psychedelic piece done by david byrd which was basically a meme of an original Ingres oil painting ‘the fountain.’. The poster was changed to skolnick's piece when the festival had to be moved to Bethel, ny due to an ordinance that would not allow more than 5000 people to gather in one place that the town of woodstock had passed the month prior. since psychedelic byrd was out of town, skolnick got the gig only to become one of the most famous graphic images in american pop culture. beware of the brown acid https://rodeo.club/post/0x6A95e1284dc7C36d5aaa73AB7FBF8037b41bDAC6/4

Oh nice, I had no idea about the history behind that iconic Woodstock poster. Growing up surrounded by that music must've been something else. It's amazing how a piece of art can become such a cultural staple. Love this poster Thank you for sharing this one Tknox
