The Luddite tendencies on the left are very frustrating. I agree that AI is an energy-intensive centralizing force contributing to even wider inequality, but not using it is giving away its power to the enemy.

It's as if we aimed to defeat tanks and planes with sticks and stones.

I've found that deepseek has been a good conversation starter around open-source and decentralized AI.

Many of the valid complaints are specific to centralized AI, especially when it comes to resource hoarding/waste, pollution, use of data, weaponization, etc.. The problem is capitalism, not AI.

I haven't kept up with deepseek enough, how does it help on this topic? It uses much less energy right?

Sadly in the west AI= all the horrific things that SV capitalism has given us. Hopefully people begin to realize this says more about the econ than the tech.
