It's insane that ripping up their starlink contract is probably going to have more of an effect than anything else...

Ontario is situated in a diverse coverage environment with prime access to DePIN and a provincial government that's unafraid to invest in and adopt emerging technologies *of all kinds* across the civic and public sectors. Here's just one example of their exploration into decentralized coordination that doesn't require access to cloud services or global-scale satellite networks, but uses local EVM nodes instead: https://wp.docs.superbenefit.org/ I'd say Ontario just has the balls to remain sovereign and meet it's peoples' needs in way that's resilient to economic bullying from its neighbors.

I should add that I (an american) do pay a portion of my bills using money from that "$200BB to build Ontario". This response to Trump's trade war would directly impact my livelihood if I didn't do that work through global DAO's. That said, I still support Ontario's sovereignty and think this is the right choice for them. If anything, this is a chance for our industry to prove how decentralized systems can protect global efforts like climate resilience across borders and hostile regulatory environments.
