one of the most popular comic artist of all time was forced to remain anon until the final years of his life. he influenced Tezuka, among others. I mean... Tezuka! need more? in the zenith of his production, he was known as The Duckman, because a contract with Disney corp didn't allow him to get credit of his work.๐งต

but one fan trick the studio to dox Carl Barks, The Duckman, and write him a letter. Barks had no idea until then how famous and beloved is his work. He worked with his wife in a ranch far away from everything and the only mail received was the studio's checks...

wen Barks was contacted by that fan, he was 61 and with no money for retirement. that changed with the recognition that his fans bring and he start doing oil paintings of the ducks with disney's permission...

to quote Barks himself: he ain't waste his time; creators like George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Matt Groening, and Robert Crumb have confessed their direct influence from Bark's comics. I bet many more will do the same for ages to come.
