1/2 While this (not posting food pics during Ramadan) seems "reasonable" and "easy to do", it opens up a whole can of worms. I know religion is a taboo topic, but I just have to ask. This is definitely not criticism, but more in a way of "let's clear the air". Some people replied to @basedkitty.eth with "Finally someone said it" while some replied with "Sorry, but that seems entitled, feel free to practice your religion without infringing on any liberties to people that don't practice your religion". But I wanted to grasp what other people think, not just about this, but other things closely connected to it. E.g. Gambling is haram. It is not even up for debate. Are the non-muslim farcasters supposed to not post anything about any gamble (card games like poker, any sort of chance game) whatsoever on Warpcast, strictly because someone cannot practice it and may be tempted? Or are Muslim people expected to "avoid" that kind of content? Full disclaimer, my kneejerk reaction would be closer to the latter.

2/2 E.g. #2 (and no, it's not solely about islam). I'm catholic (the debate on whether I am a good catholic or a bad catholic is still up). I practice Friday fast. Especially during Lent. Would it be OK if I asked everyone not to cast anything about meat or dairy on Fridays? Again, my kneejerk reaction is "No".

Fun topic! I fast in ramadan, but I never find it annoying to see people post food. I actually find good recipes when people do this. If I'm practicing my religion, I should respect other religions, too. I won't ask my non-Muslim friend not to drink alcohol or eat pork unless we're discussing a health issue. You know, Islam can be really flexible or really extremist, which isn't cool; I think this goes for all religions.

Two words: Time zones Epilogue: Farcaster is global. What they want is a local request. Not just local geographically but ideologically

As someone who grew up in a strict Muslim family I have grown to dislike how religiuos people try to make their religion about other people. this what happens when you give these people a whole country to run 👇 A few years ago I was about to get arrested for chewing gum on the street. I swallowed the gum and the cop was not insistant enough to take me jail (he could have) https://warpcast.com/mikadoe.eth/0x7293fee6

I think people are free to ask. And others should not be offended by it. If you are doing what the other person asked is something else. It is a personal decision.

I find it interesting. If i see you play poker, and i don't wanna play or can't play because of work, that's pretty ok. If i haven't eaten anything in 10 hours, i'm starving, and i see you posting amazing pics of your dinner, it hurts more. i agree with you that everyone is free to do whatever they want and post whatever they want. Its not censored. I see it more as a way of trying to be empathetic with other people. Other cultures. Other ways of doing. Like not posting food for a few days probably won't affect me that much, will it?

It is an entitled request, no doubt about that in my opinion. “Fair” to ask though in the same way it is fair to completely ignore the request

The separation of religion from the state has been one of the biggest developments for humanity and has allowed people in those countries/networks to thrive away from the superstitions, tithes and yokes of the religious classes. People of course can be considerate to others and aware of traditions in different cultures, but one should not be shamed because of another's religious beliefs. A free and open social media service should be agnostic and expectations of religious servitude should be nil. Fwiw the original post on this fasting subject seemed like max bait for engagement imo. Like who even posts such a thing?
