I spent more than two years and ~$80k (in EU…!) of my personal money on dentists and orthodontic specialists due to health problem I had. For non-essential treatment they dragged me from treatment to another. After first year, meticulous journaling, and research I started to get this visceral feeling of mistrust everytime I visited them and looked them in the eyes. All of them were high-profile, well-regarded professionals. None knew what they were doing. Malice was probably not there but nevertheless their actions and hectic decisions were guided by incentives that did not align for my wellbeing at all.
