This product is a direct response to Temporal.com and AWS Lambda Step Functions which provide something what is now called „durable execution” which basically means running some predefined process across extended period of time. Think insurance, ecommerece refunds, and anything that must keep state beyond runtime of the app that needs to keep local state. Effect.ts also works on similar open source solution with Clusters.
