Do you think this financially makes sense for Merkle? e.g. giving away $1k/week to the top 10 and $500/week to the top 30?

I think, currently, the answer is no. 

The people who would dominate the leaderboard would likely create the same content at the same pace at the current reward levels.

My intuition agrees, but I’m terribly bad at intuiting network effects and exponentials so I am unfortunately aware I could be terribly wrong haha

i think it did, but increasing the reward amount would have rapidly decaying marginal returns
