i tend to believe the opposite.. that you should be skeptical of stories that claim no tradeoffs

for one, simply for a practical purpose: 

in the no-tradeoff case, it's easier to go along with the story without questioning because to question it you have to think of a tradeoff to posit

in the tradeoff case, the tradeoffs have already been articulated, so the next logical step wouldn't be skepticism* it would just be a straightforward analysis of the posited tradeoffs to see if they're valid, which i think people naturally tend to do (tho could do better). less chance to blindly go along because the "quantity can be known"
