The issue doesn’t seem to be integrating a label into your identity, it’s being unable to shed the label and remake your identity when it’s no longer in service of your wellbeing

It’s the stickiness that’s the issue. Like, making “parent” part of your identity or “employee of ABC Corp” or “Swiftie” — none of these are problematic per se,,, it’s when you can’t detach yourself when needed.
