I loved both books, too. I recall that I found them at "On the road" from Jack Kerouac, you can find the original (not censored) version. Also from Kerouac, The Dharma Bums is a nice story, more freedom-young age focus rather drug experiences.
In the same circle, Junkie from William S. Burroughs is great (Naked lunch is good, but a creative literature exercise rather than a story to tell).
From Bukowski, Women is a beauty piece of pain and love and you might find interesting If you like Bukowski, Fante might be an inspiration for you.
Bret Easton Ellis, Less than zero is another masterpiece, maybe too generational, but still a really good read. 1 reply
