Reading up on severance theories. I think the theory most likely to be true is that Lumon are cloning humans and MDR's job is centred around transferring consciousness

I think this is right -- my main theory right now is that Mark and his wife Gemma were targeted by Lumon (for some reason). She wasn't killed in an accident (they kidnapped her or something and faked the death) and he was somehow manipulated into joining Lumon and undergoing the procedure.

Really like this theory – but I can’t help but feel it goes deeper. Mark is clearly of some importance to Lumon for some reason, why was he the only one (other than Helly of course) who wasn’t initially fired by Milchik… and they made a concerted effort to get him back
