Curious at what point - quantitatively and qualitatively - would @dwr.eth and @v say farcaster has real pmf. Some threshold of retention? Servers unable to keep up with growth for an extended period of time? Users spontaneously telling their normie friends to join farcaster?

I think PMF only makes sense as a term in the context of a market & product. Others might disagree, but I think Farcaster currently has "PMF within the crypto beachhead, and as a speculation product". If this isn't some kind of PMF idk what is

I think the last 2-4 days are the definition of product market fit 1. Can’t keep up with traffic 2. Had to turn off free subs to catch up 3. Devs getting the best out of frames, with a clear roadmap of wish list features

Given that Farcaster's product differentiation to Twitter is its onchain features, they should definitely include volume done through frame (and other primitives), and compare to other apps or even L1s

Probably some form of aggregate and cohort based churn/retention metric. Crypto is notorious for flashes in the pan so longevity is the only real way to measure it IMO

DAUs making on-chain transactions could be one metric. That distinction between “free” and “paying” users could tell something about the economic value of the platform.

Sufficient attention & engament and servers continually unable to keep up growth would be one metric… a social media app somehow needs mainstream media publications or some big influencers to reach critical mass imo

When the measures go from WAU/MAU to DAU/WAU and then HAU/DAU (and I do think it’s headed there)

imo pmf if x% of users pay to renew their accounts each year (assuming total users above a certain threshold)

I would say PMF is when other FC interfaces become popular in of themselves. Say an instagram like FC client taking off or a Reddit style FC client, or a TikTok FC client. Also when you can “import your preferred algorithms”.

A few KPIs I'm thinking about: - How many Crypto Twitters personalities start moving here - How often they post (vs Twitter) - Bots, scammers starting to invade farcaster... Considering the "channel" feature, I wonder if part of the reddit community would be interested by the product as well

Some meaningful X amount of channels need to hit escape velocity on engagement. It can’t be a one-channel pony.

it really depends how we'd define PMF in this case
