In Japan I rarely check reviews anymore. It’s really more, “hm…what do I want to eat.” and go to 1 of 3 of that genre of food within walking distance. Restaurant quality and quantity is great here.

Whole heartedly agree. A "bad" experience there is always like "I don't like this texture" or "we've been out too late" but never "they don't take care of us" or "they don't know what they're doing" etc.
