a common theme across the 50+ interviews we've done in the last 10 days is that it is HARD for new users to get started, know where to cast, find their footing and like-minded people. starter packs, /gmfarcaster, FC newsletters, and finding a "onboarding buddy" help β€” what else? what needs to be better? how?

Channels should be nurtured, new users should be able to post in what they think are the right places. Modding spam and off topic is still necessary but "members only" posting is too restrictive imo. Bots that recast affinitized content to the appropriate channels would/will help. Make /every/channel/a/repo kinda vibes

Tbh none yet. /music might be the best, or /memes, but so far channels seem like a worse version of hashtags # Reddit might be the gold standard right now, but older-ish school forums and Wikipedia style sorting will have some bang for the buck. If Warpcast was a campus, would a visitor know where to go? Would they know who to ask to know where to go? Would the obviously to-them places be places they could participate in, in good faith? Sorry for the word vomit just thinking out loud on a good question 😊

yes but Reddit is decade+ old so great standard but tough real-time comparison everyone says channels were good for new user experience, but then your reply says none are good yet and it’s worse than hashtags (but what platforms are still using hashtags?)
