Metaverse never made sense to me except as science fiction. Because you can’t navigate a virtual space by walking (you’ll hit a physical wall in your environment), it’s hosed. And those to whom virtual escapism most appeals are likely also the most physically constrained.

I think “in the fullness of time” the Metaverse is the logical conclusion to the Simulation Hypothesis. 

If ours goes that direction, it would go a long way to explaining the Fermi Paradox.
