What are the most useful or interesting things you’ve learned about yourself from using a fitness/health wearable? I love collecting data and looking at graphs for their own sake but sometimes find the analysis kind of boring: “you went really hard yesterday so you should take it easy” or “your sleep sucked because you went to bed at 3am.” The biggest one for me was discovering how even small amounts of alcohol immediately affect every metric and disrupt my sleep. But out of years of continuous data I’ve only had a few major insights like this.

In my early career, I took it personally whenever someone left the company, especially if I'd hired them. I took any exit to mean the culture was on the brink of failure and it was all my fault. As I grew up and the org around me grew too, I learned to chill out: to be grateful for the work we did together, to listen critically to their feedback, and to recognize what was and was not in my control. Growth begets change, and exit is healthy. Very often I would see them again. Not always as colleagues, but as clients or collaborators of another kind.

What are your favorite live cover performances/artists? For me, Annie Clark, who has a long back catalog of very ambitious covers. She now gets called up for halls of fame and awards show tributes (Nirvana, Kate Bush, Prince), but there are some amazing deep cuts from her early career. When I joined Farcaster, I cared too much about DEGEN tips and I had a bad experience. When I stopped caring about tips, my experience improved—and I got more tips anyway!
