Just finished Hyperion by Dan Simmons! 
Great book although you really can’t stop there given the whole thing is a setup, onto book 2 let’s see what happens w the Shrike.

(Also that’s where the word “farcaster” is inspired from)

It's really, really good. I stopped after book 2 and feel satisfied with that stopping point (similar to stopping after Dune 1)
