I woke up this morning in Tokyo to 2 casts from @dwr.eth regarding future of Farcaster

As a developer building on Farcaster, I found them to be a bit contradictory, unsettling, & overly defeatist.

Farcaster has been building a solid foundation for a strong future. That future is dependent on app... longcast.jam.so/jjcJMh

Lots of good feedback here, but one thing that I see differently:

I see multiple *direct competitors* to Warpcast, and I fail to see the value. 

I don't think the "twitter clone" needs competition (right now, maybe later). I think we need more innovative clients to be built. 1/2

In the future, if Merkel proves to be a bad builder of the main client, then the decentralized protocol design will allow to "exit" and build alternatives, but I don't see the need today (or at least I feel perfectly happy with Warpcast).

What I’d love to see is people building on top of the social graph in new ways, like https://warpcast.com/colin/0x97075e or PixelPool. 
These clients drive much more interesting growth and protocol evolution pressure. I trust the Merkel team to build the twitter clone, given what they’ve done so far.

Many of us devs were filling gaps first while waiting for features to be built/enabled

There was not and still is not any search nor great discovery on warpcast, so that’s where many of us started while waiting on features that enabled us to have users write content not just read it... longcast.jam.so/jjboi4
