The OIC is launching its first Olympic Games focused on e-sports in Saudi Arabia next year. Saudi Arabia is truly spending money like no other and their controversial crown prince is reportedly a big gamer. https://olympics.com/ioc/news/ioc-enters-a-new-era-with-the-creation-of-olympic-esports-games-first-games-in-2025-in-saudi-arabia

wait e-sports gets its own Olympics in a random new cycle that's not summer nor winter but a third other cycle? and they choose to announce it a week before the actual 2024 summer olympics? i respect e-sports but do think this is a total money move by the IOC, no matter how nicely worded the press announcement is.

but if consumers watch and enjoy (since there's nothing else to watch), isn't that a win-win tho?
