Thoughts on new years goals? I used to love them but not as much recently.

“Make x money” feels shallow. Main finaicial metric is net worth which is much less controllable year/year

“Make x new projects” is meaningless because I’d rather quality > quantity

“Lose x lbs” is fine but the real goal is just

I dont set goals year by year. It feels too arbitrary of a deadline.

I set goals when I have a project, or a concrete objective “get an American VISA”).

For personal growth I use principles (“be open minded, be curious, be kind”) and sometimes do retros to reevaluate them.
