Days like this I try to think about MLK Jr. Fought an uphill battle and hated by the majority his whole life. Risked his life and the safety of his family. But didn't despair and still found things to love about America. He was playing an infinite game. Ignorant bullies play finite games.

you can be an apple without being a red apple Trump is like MLK in the sense that he’s for the people and against the system He’s created a movement that is nation wide and has created real lasting change He has iconic speeches and images

as I see it many people were already disillusioned, that’s been the animating core of both Trump wins. Harris doubled down on the threat he poses to the system, in doing so kinda campaigned in defense of something people have lost faith in More optimistically, it seems less like mass ideological drift to the right - none of it feels permanent

Yeah I agree but I mean disillusioned with Trump and the GOP, and really the ruling class owned duopoly parties as a whole. People still thinking Trump gives 2 shits about anyone worth less than $100m are in for a rude awakening.

I knew what you meant! I don't disagree, but simply by acknowledging what for a lot of people is a reality he's offering something extremely important when it comes to winning elections

I'm not saying it's not, I'm saying on paper trump lost 3 million votes from last time, that Missouri went 18 points up on Harris on two labor right props and 14 on abortion Alaska and Nebraska similar margins, exit polling out of Wisconsin said people who didn't like either canidate broke 2:1 for trump, which isn't exactly a red wave, Michigan lost entirely on deerborn, a district where the democratic socialist canidate did almost double harris numbers, Harris lost by seven there, not only did Tlaib almost double harris but almost 22% of people who voted for her didn't vote for Harris or stien. So like while yes trump out preformed my so low projections for him in terms of popular, that this is sign of a huge sentiment shift is a lot to me just off what the pools saying
