Safe to say at this point that team Trump overplayed their hand post convention. Several unforced errors, the Vance problem, Trump fatigue. Meanwhile untapped Kamala memetic power has been discovered. Walz is a good, safe pick. How much will people care that Kamala wasn’t voted on? It bothers me plenty. If I were a rep. operative I’d push this point. Odds are 50/50 at this point. I don’t play roulette but if I did I’d bet on Trump winning.

Facebook and Threads are going wild with the Walz memes. What little bit I've checked TikTok, it's starting there, too. Democrats are unusually good at marketing the campaign this year.

He’s wholesome. Something we haven’t seen much of recently in American politics. Will voters care? I’m somewhat skeptical that the memes will matter as much this go around compared to 2016

More than just memes , he grew up on a farm in a district that voted trump twice, he can speak to rural voters who don't like trump, he was a teacher for 20 years, he can speak to the youth, the two groups you have to win this year are undecided who don't want trump, and youth. Trump wants to attack the middle and run on race baiting and they are socialists, and I belive there's enough in the middle who are informed enough to realize lol no they aren't

they’ll need to come up with some ideas other than Trump Bad. Do they have them? We really don’t know, Kamala is a bit of a cipher, tactically a brilliant move that she was mostly invisible during the Biden administration because there’s very little to hammer her on. Tim Kaine didn’t really help Hillary even though he has a few of the attributes you mentioned.

I mean she's pretty much Biden, lol she's a liberal centrist, she'll follow the party line. From her own speeches she's said she's going to do a lot of what Biden said. I think she'll go back to her roots when elected and side more on side of private prisons, I think she'll probably be good for unions, I think they'll be good for rights in terms of like abortion and other rights, but like I think she'll be a center right in term of crime and center left in terms of social and labor https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2024/08/politics/kamala-harris-key-issues-dg/

Her voting record in Congress hints at being more progressive on most issues than people realize. She's closer to Sanders and Warren on that than to Biden. Her law enforcement record absolutely concerns me, but she's the only option we've got at this point, cuz Trump is just bad for everyone, even the people who think he'll be good to them.

What are your thoughts on her not being voted on, appointment as candidate by the party?

I think it's what everyone was calling for. The pressure for Biden to step down was immense. And part of voting in the presidential election is knowing that the VP is the one who is going to take over if the president steps down. If Biden hadn't been running for re-election, she would have been the obvious Democratic front runner, they'd have pushed her over all candidates and bulldozed her through the primaries like they always do. Would it be nice if we could redo the primary? Sure. But I don't think that's a practical expectation given the current state of affairs and inefficiencies in the voting process.

I’m not ready to give up the democratic process for vague, hand wavy notions of ‘consensus.’ True if he stepped down she’d be pres, but he didn’t and she’s the nominee and we didn’t get a say.

But also he's the presumptive candidate the convention hasn't even been held lol so like irs a moot point. And this is coming from someone who would rather any liberal over Harris

We'll see how the delegates vote, but lol compared to trump, considering again the long Standing procedure of a contested contest(which is literally the party negotiating with the delegates to get their vote before the convention) its something as again someone who'd rather any liberal than Harris it's not something I'm even concerned about

Let’s see how voters respond, I imagine for a not insignificant # it’ll be a ‘mask-off’ moment. Why I said if I was a rep operative I’d push this talking point.
