Because China is better positioned, and will bail out it's citizens. America consumes to much to withstand a long trade war, and most of our treats can't be natively produced

my point is more that 2018-19 taught us that the damage from all this is not lasting. once the tariffs are lifted things return to normal (and beyond)

I mean minus all the bailouts for farmers, plus he's compounding by making it global, there's definitely a lot more factors in play here than just o what's China going to do. Plus china's economy is a lot hotter here than in 2018

Yeah, I want to be clear that I dont think all this tariff stuff is necessary or productive. I just think: (1) he will cave to the pressure of a bad economy (2) it will prob be well before the midterms (3) things will get optimistic again quickly.
