Long New Yorker profile of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar written by David Remnick. Has lots of details of his life in prison and the symbolic role that he has taken on. Sinwar today was appointed political head of Hamas in addition to military chief in Gaza. What that suggests to me is this is seen as a war to the finish and no negotiation will happen. The next stage will be the compelled involvement of other regional countries and militias in the war backed by Iran.
