I've been seeing their numbers go down, is it more a case of fringe ndp voters going to the liberals as a protest to trump or is ndp that unpopular?

I think there’s a massive psyop of conflating US style presidential elections with Canadians parliamentary elections. Everyone is being told (seriously look at the comments on any NDP post), that “we mustn’t split the vote!!!!” Ignorance and naïveté will be the death of democracy, which is why the conservatives and corporations push so hard to make us stupid.
