is there an explanation of what urbit is for a smooth brain like me? seen it mentioned so many times but nothing makes any sense / no good incentive for me to participate

Think of it as an operating system where all the computation is done on your computer instead of in the cloud.

Imagine Facebook, for example, but where there are no Facebook servers and everything is computed and stored on the user’s machine, with communications happen in P2P.
