Please join the discussion, would love to hear your opinions: I'm constantly thinking about how to improve this platform for artists, collectors and art enjoyers alike. I kind of left Twitter/X for various reasons, since Musk took over and turned it into a propaganda machine. But whenever I return there for a quick update, my art feed is really top notch. Almost everybody who is active here, also posts or cross-shares frequently on X as well. But more important, a lot of artist I want to follow and I want to be informed about only post there (and maybe on Bluesky, Mastodon, IG as well, don't know). Point is, they all have a Farcaster account, but turned their backs on the platform at some point or never really got into it. I would therefore be delighted if they were to return and exploit Farcaster's potential.

I think the first time experience and onboarding is not great for artists. They need to following the right channels and know where to post their art. Rodeo can actually help with that as well since they use farcaster social graph. However, we need a reverse-onboarding that help people who joined Rodeo to also signup for farcaster. I can't count how many times I tried to share a Rodeo post but found out the artist only has X profile.

I get you on your first paragraph, but believe this is similar on any new platform you check out. Or do you think it’s especially difficult to understand due to the channel structure? So kind of an art channel index would be helpful? Social graph is helpful if we break it down to following individuals and your right, the social graph and it’s portability is a major strength. Connected platforms cross-fertilize each other. I also always tell artists on Rodeo to link their account or try Farcaster. Thanks Jeffrey 🙏

Yes, channels is a strength on farcaster but new users might not know where to cast. It’s a new concept to most of them.

Also the fact that you need to become a member to be allowed to post in some channels is not obvious. And sometimes not easy to get in (or also not obvious how to get in as channel owners handle this matter differently).

Thanks for tuning in, that's a valid point and something we can start to tackle right away. As you noted already, it's up to the channel owner and moderators on how to handle this. I own one channel and moderate quite a few, so will be working on improving the situation asap. One problem is, some channels are not actively managed anymore, owner hasn't shown up for a long time or isn't aware of the possibilities to manage the channel. Need to get in touch with these and offer help. Future improvements: - Maybe there should be built in ways to handle this. - Maybe should be made clear in UI, if a channel is open to all, member-only and how you can apply to become a member.

Absolutely, a unified way would help a lot. Also the risk of a channel being abandoned by relying on single entities as you describe it is a downside. But I also don’t really know how to avoid that. Maybe a channel could turn to public, after some time of owner activity? Also not ideal, tho..

Hmm…I guess it’s not a priority rn. I really like how channels work here but I guess we are a minority https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0x2d3d49c6
